Raichur, origin of name Rayachooru in Kannada, is a town and a city municipal council in Raichur district in the Indian state of Karnataka. Raichur, on the banks of the Tungabhadra River, is the headquarters of Raichur district.
It was in the princely state of Mysore during the rule of Tipu Sultan, later coming under the Kingdom of the Nizam. It is located 409 km from the state capital, Bangalore.

Devarbhupur :
Devarbhupur, in Lingsugur taluk, about 11 miles (18 km) from Lingsugur, is noted for its Amareshwara temple and jaggery trade. The temple is beautifully situated amidst hillocks, which have green foliage. Under the auspices of this temple, annually a big jatra takes place in the month of Phalguna when a cattle fair is also held.
